Stacking the Shelves #1

Wahoo! My second ever meme. My first meme for Stacking the Shelves. Speaking of, does anyone know how meme is pronounced? My friend told me it was pronounced MEM. I thought it was pronounced MEH-MEH, which, BTW is the Turkish word for a girl's rack. Though I think it's spelled differently. My mom thinks it's pronounced MEE-MEE. So anyone know how it's pronounced? I'd really love to know. But I'll be calling it a MEH-MEH even if it's pronounced MEM or MEE-MEE. MEH-MEH sounds cooler. Like French or something.

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. If you’re anything like me, you are probably hoarding books and even though you are excited about your latest book arrival, it might be a while before you get to review it. And this I'll be doing every Saturday. Just so you know it started over @ Tynga's Reviews.

The Edge of Never by J.A. Rederski

So I just bought this a couple of days ago and it sounds really good. Hopefully I'll find time soon to read it, but I've got a HUGE pile of books (both virtual and tangible) that need to be read. So we'll see where that goes.

Twenty-year-old Camryn Bennett had always been one to think out-of-the-box, who knew she wanted something more in life than following the same repetitive patterns and growing old with the same repetitive life story. And she thought that her life was going in the right direction until everything fell apart.

Determined not to dwell on the negative and push forward, Camryn is set to move in with her best friend and plans to start a new job. But after an unexpected night at the hottest club in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, she makes the ultimate decision to leave the only life she’s ever known, far behind.

With a purse, a cell phone and a small bag with a few necessities, Camryn, with absolutely no direction or purpose boards a Greyhound bus alone and sets out to find herself. What she finds is a guy named Andrew Parrish, someone not so very different from her and who harbors his own dark secrets. But Camryn swore never to let down her walls again. And she vowed never to fall in love.

But with Andrew, Camryn finds herself doing a lot of things she never thought she’d do. He shows her what it’s really like to live out-of-the-box and to give in to her deepest, darkest desires. On their sporadic road-trip he becomes the center of her exciting and daring new life, pulling love and lust and emotion out of her in ways she never imagined possible. But will Andrew’s dark secret push them inseparably together, or tear them completely apart?

Summon by Penelope Fletcher

Okay, so technically I'm reading this at the moment. But this is one of those books that takes a while to get into and I get bored really fast so I keep putting it down and finishing faster, lighter reads which aren't nearly as good. I'm hoping to strong-arm myself into getting back to this. I hate when I do this and book a book done. It totally kills the book for me. This also happens to be the fourth book in the Rae Wilder series. Good books. But their complex, and you can't be a twitchy ADHD reader with them. You have to get into it and then they'll rock your world.

Breandan is a godling doing godless things. For the one he loves, he is prepared to destroy the balance of nature. His beloved Rae has passed into the Otherworld, and he's determined to bring her back, no matter the consequence. Blood sacrifice is not the only cost for summoning a divine spirit to mortal form. The Loa are desperate to return to the realm of the living, and with Cael bitter in defeat, he considers an alliance even his coven cannot hope to control. Lochlann is conflicted. Blood tied to a vampire, his Wyld is in turmoil, yet he struggles to focus on anything but Daphne. Goblins enroach on fairy borders and swarm over shifter territory. Proud, the new Pack Alpha remains reluctant to bind his kind to the fairies who betrayed them, regardless of his claim on the new High Priestess. Can the creatures of the forests coexist as they did so long ago? Family. Honour. Love. There comes a time when all dreaming ends.

Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor

Okay, so this is another book I'm supposed to be reading. It just takes a while to get into it. And I will. Eventually. But right now I'm being a total cucumber and laying around chillin'. Bad, bad cucumber. This is the second book in the Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy. They have epic covers, if you didn't already notice.

Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love and dared to imagine a world free of bloodshed and war.

This is not that world.

Art student and monster's apprentice Karou finally has the answers she has always sought. She knows who she is—and what she is. But with this knowledge comes another truth she would give anything to undo: She loved the enemy and he betrayed her, and a world suffered for it.

In this stunning sequel to the highly acclaimed Daughter of Smoke & Bone, Karou must decide how far she'll go to avenge her people. Filled with heartbreak and beauty, secrets and impossible choices, Days of Blood & Starlight finds Karou and Akiva on opposing sides as an age-old war stirs back to life.

While Karou and her allies build a monstrous army in a land of dust and starlight, Akiva wages a different sort of battle: a battle for redemption. For hope.

But can any hope be salvaged from the ashes of their broken dream?

Born at Midnight by C.C. Hunter

I bought this a couple weeks ago and I thought it sounded pretty interesting. It's something on my to-review list. If I can give up contemporary New Adult for a couple of days I can get these other books here read. It's unlikely that will happen, but it's worth a shot. This is the first book in the series.

Don’t miss this spectacular new series that will steal your heart and haunt your dreams, Welcome to Shadow Falls camp, nestled deep in the woods of a town called Fallen…

One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever. Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.” Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.

Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either. Or does she? They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason. As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas. Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past. Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.

Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…

Okay people, that is it for Stacking the Shelves for this week. Trust me, I have plenty more books on my shelves that need reading, so I'll be sure to add them to Stacking the Shelves next week.

Hi! And thanks for stopping by my blog!! And thanks so much for the compliments... I love my owl rating system too! I had my blog redesigned about 6 months ago, and I love my owls. :) I might be a bit obsessed with owls... hehe. ;)

Pointers for a newbie... let's see. If you're looking for more followers, I would suggest joining a few weekly meme's like Waiting on Wednesday and Feature & Follow on Fridays. You can put the link to your post in a linky, and that way other bloggers will visit your site and follow you. Then you can follow them in return, building more followers that way. You can also join a few giveaways... that's a good way to get started and get your blog noticed. Blog Tours are always great too, but you need to have a certain number of followers before joining most tours.

Good luck to you!! And if there's anything I can do to help along the way, feel free to stop by and ask! :)

Oh... and as far as your books this week... I've heard the Edge of Never is a wonderful read!! I recently got DoS&B which I'm really excited to read, then I will dive right into DoB&S asap!! :) Enjoy your books this week!

I love comments! So don't hesitate to share your thoughts. Leave your blog/website name and link so I can get back to you. And if you're a new follower, tell me. Note that this is an award-free zone. I loved getting awards and I was pleased you guys thought I was special, but I was nominated so many times and it took a lot of time to do the award posts, time that I don't have. So thanks, but no thanks.

Happy reading!
