I don't usually read novellas, as they seem too rushed and incomplete. But I loved this one. It was short and sweet, but still a good read. And it was New Adult. I LOVE New Adult.

Jason shows up on Emma's birthday to give her a day of fun and intrigue. It's fabulous. The paranormal creatures are so cool. And Jason and Emma rock together. There chemistry and reactions to each other are so fun to read in my mind.

I can't wait to read more. Honestly, everything about this book is straightforward and easy. It's a nice, light read. I love it and I can't wait for more.

AUTHOR BIO

Leaving the house to go to school, I had schoolbooks spilling out of one hand, the other holding my place in a Nancy Drew novel, and bunny slippers still on my feet. My mom was a wee bit upset.

I haven't changed much. Still always have a book (or two) in my hand or creating stories in my head, and although I don't have any bunny slippers, I love writing in my jammies and snuggly slipper socks.

When I grow up (maybe a hundred years from now), I'd like to be a superhero, but for now, saving the day, one page at a time, suits me just fine.

With my husband TJ (my own cuddly werewolf), I home-school our three girls, who keep us busy with art, science projects, books to read, dance classes, and walks about the park.

I freaking love Loken! He rocks so much. I mean, he really, truly does. I don't want to tell you why, because it's too awesome to spoil for you guys to find out for yourselves. But he's really cool.

So it's the end of the world. No biggie, right? Well, everyone has a job, and Ashara (the protagonist) is to be on her exes team to help save the world. Uh-huh. That seems real likely.

The mages are nasty, mean things that keep trying to kill Ashara and the others. Forget about the end of the world, how is she going to stay alive long enough to help out?

This book is dystopian, which I obviously LOVE. Ashara isn't a bad character, she just has a lot of issues. Which makes her the perfect protagonist. She makes me want to strangle her with the way she runs from her problems, but if I were in her shoes I'd probably do the same thing.

I already said how much I like Loken. You'll see why when you read the book. Besides having a kick-ass name that reminds me of Thor's evil brother (even though his name is Loki and not Loken), he has some unique character qualities that'll make you like him.

Overall, a great read, I'm happy I read it. The story was whole, the characters antsy, and the world was about to end. What's not to like?

Hey everyone – Ashur here… Junco asked me to introduce Tier’s interview since I happen to know him best. I thought I’d spice things up a bit and add my take on his questions…enjoy!

Character profile:  Raubtier, Aves 039-1

Physical Description:  6’1, 185 lbs. black hair, green eyes. I think this is a stupid question, let’s move on. No one cares what I look like, only how well I fight. (ASHUR: I look just like him, only smarter.)

Actor who could play you in a movie:  Next… (ASHUR: I agree, that’s like a total chick question.)

Job: Second in Command to Lucan, Captain of the 039. (ASHUR: So he thinks…)

Favorite gun: Whatever’s available when I need it, which isn’t often. (ASHUR: Tier only uses guns if they're handy, otherwise he’s all about slashing throats.)

Favorite MMA move: The flying knee because that throws them off every time. It’s like, splat, there goes your jaw. Bye… (ASHUR: Yeah, the flying knee is brutal. That shit totally hurts.)

Favorite Team Member: Ashur. (ASHUR: Awwwww…he loves me.)

Favorite vaca spot: Next… (ASHUR: Secretly, Tier loves Disney World)

Favorite food: I’ll eat anything, who cares? Food is food. Although Junco is an excellent cook and I enjoy her human meals. (ASHUR: Junco makes an awesome pineapple upside-down cake)

Age: In Clutch I’m 24. In Fledge and Flight I’m 25…Range takes place when I’m 27.

Birthday: I have no idea when my birthday was – sometime in the Clutch year of 2127 maybe. The only day that counts is your morphday. Mine is March 9, 2139 and since the 039 were all sent back from Earth at the same time, we all morphed together. So all the members of the 039 share the same morphday. (ASHUR: We have a raging fucking party every year. Invitation only.)

Instead of saying more, he brushed his fingertips along my cheek, and his halo glimmered. I could hear the waves slapping the rocks behind us, the wind driving them in. That same wind whipped against my skin, but the touch of his hand on my face was all I could think about. It sent a current through both of us and filled me with longing for something I wasn’t sure I understood.

“I’m sorry.” He stepped back and shoved his hands into his pockets as the light around him faded. “You don’t know what it’s like. Being near you now, remembering those moments we had…” His hair blew into his eyes, but this time he didn’t move. I wanted to brush it back, but I didn’t know how he’d react. Would touching him be bad?

“You want to know who you were?” he asked. “You may look different, but you’re the same. I look into your eyes and see you.” He took in a deep breath, fixing his attention on the horizon. Hey guys! I’m S. M. Boyce (call me Boyce)—fantasy author of the young adult Grimoire Saga. I’ve been invited over to chat about the “spark,” or what made me start writing.

If you’re also a writer, I’d love to hear your response in the comments—and if you’re strictly a devout bookworm, what got you into reading?

When I was five, I entered a writing contest on my parents’ encouragement and wrote a short children’s book about a lonely pickle and her hunt for friends. I don’t remember how it ended, and that’s probably a pretty good thing—it’s kind of a morbid story when I reflect on it. I mean, the pickle had friends before. The jar didn’t come from the store with just her in it. So how my five-year-old brain rationalized personifying leftovers is beyond me. I’m sure you’ll be completely surprised to hear that I didn’t win the contest. [insert sarcastic laugh]

Since then, I’ve continued to write and thankfully improved. I graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Creative Writing, and I’ve been lucky enough to edit manuscript after manuscript for my fellow authors.

I spent 7 years drafting the plot and world-building for my debut series, the Grimoire Saga. The first in the series, Lichgates, even hit the Kindle top 100, and I’ve since decided to make it free. About the Author

Mia Hoddell lives in the UK with her family and two cats. She spends most of her time writing or reading and her preferred genre is Young Adult, Paranormal Romance. Before 2009, Mia wouldn't even pick up a book and was more interested in sports. However she finally found some novels that captured her interest and developed a love of both reading and writing. Mia began with poems and after getting two published in separate anthologies she moved onto short stories. Although she enjoyed this, Mia found she had too much to tell with too little space, so later on she created her first series The Wanderer Trilogy and from there other ideas have emerged which she hopes to turn into novels as well. I love dystopia, and this was no exception. This book rocked. It was a real surprise, this book. All dystopia are different. But this one was really pretty cool.

Zachary lives in the Underworld with his dad. He's always looking through trash trying to find stuff he can sell so that he can eat. One day he finds a communication device that is a diary of a girl called Rose. He's completely enamored by her.

He gets to meet her once, but he wants to meet her again. The Overworld is ordering the Underworld to evacuate so that they can expand. And Rose's dad is in the heart of the matter.

I loved the story. While it may seem a little hard to relate to a dystopian character, the author did an excellent job of connecting the reader to the story. I was really pleased with how the story turned out.

I think this was a really great read, with common conflicts that we still face nowadays like prejudice and poverty. Things you can see everyday in our world if you know where to look.

I have to say, I thought this book was pretty amazing. The cover was pretty cool, and I thought that it may be the best thing, but the story upped it by several notches. Just a warning for everyone who loves a good book.

Bewitched is about a boy called Darren who is your average high school guy. He plays basketball, has a girlfriend, very average. His brother died. Darren finds out that his brother died fighting witches and he's supposed to fight them too.

Only his grandfather has health issues and can't help him so he has to figure it out all on his own. And the new girl? Yeah, he thinks she's a witch. I mean, she was floating above the school gymnasium and all. And another fun thing? He has the hots for her. Very messy and complicated.

Suddenly he's not so average after all, is? And he is having trouble trying to tap into his magical abilities. Honestly, he's pretty clueless. Poor guy. You can't help but feel at least a little twinge of sympathy for him.

A lot happens in this book, and Darren has a lot to go through by himself. I'm not going to reveal and details--sorry, but your going to have to read the book yourself--but I will say that I thought this story was compelling and... magical. Pun intended.

When you read Bewitched, you'll love it. There's a lot you have to understand, and that takes time (don't all books?) but in the ended your left with a feeling of completeness as the story comes full circle. I hated not knowing who the evil person was in the story, and that drove me to finish the book as fast as possible. It was like an itch I couldn't scratch. Kudos to you, Mark Jay Harris. You really left me wanting more.

Synopsis:

The first time Darren saw Samantha, she was floating above his high school gymnasium during a basketball game, invisible to everyone but him. Next time he sees her, she's sitting in front of him in class, wowing his friends and causing unexplainable things to happen that only he seems to notice. But things really get strange (and complicated) when his dying grandfather tells him that he is part of an ancient order, the “Pessum Ire,” whose duty is to destroy witches. What does he do now, since he’s almost positive Samantha is a witch…and he’s crushing on her pretty hard?

About the Author:

Mark Harris lives in Smithfield Utah, a small town located in a beautiful valley in Northern Utah. His wife, Shaundale, and he have four terrific children, two girls and two boys and a fifth one due to arrive in November of 2012. Mark has taught English and Special Education and currently works from home teaching English to people from all over the world. Writing has always been his true passion since he was a grade schooler writing about mushrooms. "Bewitched" will be his debut novel. He has two others underway and will soon start on the sequel to "Bewitched," called "The Return of the Familiar."
