Stacking the Shelves #3

STSmall

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. If you’re anything like me, you are probably hoarding books and even though you are excited about your latest book arrival, it might be a while before you get to review it. Hosted by @ Tynga's Reviews.

Hey everyone! It's another Stacking the Shelves! Whoop! Whoop! I love these memes. At first I didn't get them, or the point of them, and now I love them! Even if I still have no idea how to pronounce meme...

As you can see I finally went to the bookstore! Yes! I really don't like eBooks, but they're convenient, so I put up with them. But nothing compares the scent of crisp paper holding a story so real and life-like in it that it's wonderful. Magical. You can't not love print books. My favorite are paperback, but for some reason books are always published as hardcovers first. So I usually am ended up stuck with hardcovers. No offense, all of you hardcover-lovers.
So let's take a look at what I've got this week, eh?

Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi

I have been waiting for this book since I first read it last January. And I finally have it! Yes! But I'm not going to be able to read it until I finish reading all of my other books... *cue sad music*

Synopsis:

tick, tick, tick, tick, tick
it's almost
time for war.

Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.

She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.

Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.

In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam's life.

Asunder by Jodi Meadows

I love the covers for these books! They're beautiful. And if you check my author interview with Jodi Meadows she can tell you all about them!

Synopsis:

DARKSOULS
Ana has always been the only one. Asunder. Apart. But after Templedark, when many residents of Heart were lost forever, some hold Ana responsible for the darksouls–and the newsouls who may be born in their place.

SHADOWS
Many are afraid of Ana’s presence, a constant reminder of unstoppable changes and the unknown. When sylph begin behaving differently toward her and people turn violent, Ana must learn to stand up not only for herself but for those who cannot stand up for themselves.

LOVE
Ana was told that nosouls can’t love. But newsouls? More than anything, she wants to live and love as an equal among the citizens of Heart, but even when Sam professes his deepest feelings, it seems impossible to overcome a lifetime of rejection.

In this second book in the Incarnate trilogy, Ana discovers the truth about reincarnation and will have to find a way to embrace love and make her young life meaningful. Once again, Jodi Meadows explores the extraordinary beauty and shadowed depths of the soul in a story equal parts epic romance and captivating fantasy.

Shadow Lands by Kate Brian

I have never heard of this book before. I was just browsing through the Teen section in the book store and I came across the book. It sounds like something I'll enjoy. I guess we'll see!

Synopsis:

Rory Miller had one chance to fight back and she took it. Rory survived… and the serial killer who attacked her escaped. Now that the infamous Steven Nell is on the loose, Rory must enter the witness protection with her father and sister, Darcy, leaving their friends and family without so much as a goodbye.

Starting over in a new town with only each other is unimaginable for Rory and Darcy. They were inseparable as children, but now they can barely stand each other. As the sisters settle in to Juniper Landing, a picturesque vacation island, it seems like their new home may be just the fresh start they need. They fall in with a group of beautiful, carefree teens and spend their days surfing, partying on the beach, and hiking into endless sunsets. But just as they’re starting to feel safe again, one of their new friends goes missing. Is it a coincidence? Or is the nightmare beginning all over again?

Boundless by Cynthia Hand

I love the books before this one. And I can't wait to read this! TEAM TUCKER! Christian is great and all, but he's not Tucker. And I love Tucker.

Synopsis:

The past few years have held more surprises than part-angel Clara Gardner could ever have anticipated. Yet from the dizzying highs of first love, to the agonizing low of losing someone close to her, the one thing she can no longer deny is that she was never meant to live a normal life.

Since discovering the special role she plays among the other angel-bloods, Clara has been determined to protect Tucker Avery from the evil that follows her . . . even if it means breaking both their hearts. Leaving town seems like the best option, so she’s headed back to California - and so is Christian Prescott, the irresistible boy from the vision that started her on this journey in the first place.

As Clara makes her way in a world that is frighteningly new, she discovers that the fallen angel who attacked her is watching her every move. And he’s not the only one. . . . With the battle against the Black Wings looming, Clara knows she must finally fulfill her destiny. But it won’t come without sacrifices and betrayal.

In the riveting finale of the Unearthly series, Clara must decide her fate once and for all.

After Obsession by Carrie Jones & Steven E Wedel

I hadn't heard of this book before, though the cover does look familiar. My cover has a red background, but whatever. Google obviously doesn't like the red background ones. Pfft. Red is cool. Suck on that Google! Anyways... crude ranting aside, I love Carrie Jones. Her books are great. I love them. So I had to get this one. And it sounds interesting too.

Synopsis:

Aimee and Alan have secrets. Both teens have unusual pasts and abilities they prefer to keep hidden. But when they meet each other, in a cold Maine town, they can't stop their secrets from spilling out. Strange things have been happening lately, and they both feel that something-or someone- is haunting them. They're wrong. Despite their unusual history and powers, it's neither Aimee nor Alan who is truly haunted. It's Alan's cousin Courtney who, in a desperate plea to find her missing father, has invited a demon into her life-and into her body. Only together can Aimee and Alan exorcise the ghost. And they have to move quickly, before it devours not just Courtney but everything around her.
Filled with heart-pounding romance, paranormal activity, and rich teen characters to love-and introducing an exciting new YA voice, Steven Wedel-this novel is exactly what Carrie Jones fans have been waiting for. Meet your next obsession.

Wicked Kiss by Michelle Rowen

Several notes I have for this book. Numero uno, I had requested an ARC of this book, not expecting to get it. Well, I got it. And I haven't read the first book... Oops. Well, it was on my to-read shelf, so I'll just buy it and read and review that one first, then read and review this one. If I can find the time (and the money) I'll post the review for this book on it's release date. If not, I'll try to get it done as soon as I can. Numbre deux, this is my first MEGA ARC. All of the other ARC's I've been given were from small publishing groups, tours, or self-published authors. Practically handouts for some of them. Wicked Kiss is being published by Harlequin, which is a pretty big publishing company. So you can imagine that I'm pretty psyched. I'm going to try and fit this book into my schedule as best I can. Man, now I wish I didn't sign up for all of those blog tours... Nummer drei, I swear the cover model looks like a girl I know. Who does happen to be a model. We're not besties or anything, so I don't know everything she does. But I swear she looks just like the cover model...

Synopsis:

MY KISS CAN KILL.

I used to be ordinary Samantha Day, but that's changed. Now, after one dark kiss from a dangerous boy, I can steal someone's soul...or their life. If I give in to the constant hunger inside me, I hurt anyone I kiss. If I don't...I hurt myself.

Bishop is the one whose kiss I crave most, but if I kiss him, I'll kill him. Then there's another boy, one I can't hurt. One whose kiss seems to miraculously quell my hunger. They're both part of a team of angels and demons that's joined forces in my city to fight a mysterious rising darkness, an evil that threatens everyone I know and love. I just wonder if I'll be able to help Bishop-or if I'm just another part of the darkness he's sworn to destroy....

NIGHTWATCHERS

When angels and demons must work together, something beyond evil is rising...

I love comments! So don't hesitate to share your thoughts. Leave your blog/website name and link so I can get back to you. And if you're a new follower, tell me. Note that this is an award-free zone. I loved getting awards and I was pleased you guys thought I was special, but I was nominated so many times and it took a lot of time to do the award posts, time that I don't have. So thanks, but no thanks.

Happy reading!
