Born at Midnight by C.C. Hunter

I apologize for not having any posts up this past week. I had them all planned but for some reason they didn't post and I was away without a computer or Wi-Fi to do anything about it.

Genre: Young Adult Fantasy (Romance?)

Okay, so I bought this book ages and ages ago, and it's been on my TBR list forever, right? Well it was starting to collect dust (the kind only e-books can get on my lovely Kindle), when I finally decided to read it. And boy did I want to smack myself for not reading it earlier.

Kylie gets busted for going to a high school party where there are drugs and alcohol, even if she appears clean. Her mother take her counselors advise and sends her to a summer camp called Shadow Falls. I mean, if you were the parent and you were getting a divorce pretty soon after your own mother died, you may believe that following the shrink's advice is a good thing.

Kylie doesn't seem to think so.

At least, she doesn't at first. She learns that Shadow Falls is a camp for supernaturals (shape-shifters, witches/warlocks, vampires, werewolves, and fae). But Kylie isn't any of those things, so surely she doesn't belong at Shadow Falls. Or does she?

I think that this book is pretty good, overall. It kept me hooked wanting to know what the fudgebucket Kylie was, and her antsy little problem with a certain were and half-fae. I liked Holiday and I liked Della and Miranda. Oh, and I'll tell you right now that I'm definitely TEAM LUCAS.

I think that we could've gotten more about Lucas and Kylie history, and we could've delved a bit deeper into some of the characters. I didn't like Kylie. Kylie was a little too cliché for me. The whole 'Oh, I'm so innocent and angelic' thing really didn't do a whole lot for me. Every heroine nowadays has to be this perfect goodness and I kind of wish Kylie had broken the mold in that sense.

I've already bought the next one and I'm looking forward to reading it.

Synopsis:

Don’t miss this spectacular new series that will steal your heart and haunt your dreams, Welcome to Shadow Falls camp, nestled deep in the woods of a town called Fallen…

One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever. Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.” Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.

Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either. Or does she? They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason. As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas. Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past. Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.

Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…

I love comments! So don't hesitate to share your thoughts. Leave your blog/website name and link so I can get back to you. And if you're a new follower, tell me. Note that this is an award-free zone. I loved getting awards and I was pleased you guys thought I was special, but I was nominated so many times and it took a lot of time to do the award posts, time that I don't have. So thanks, but no thanks.

Happy reading!
